I'm a little surprised. Seems like he could have landed a higher profile job but maybe there aren't that many available this cycle.

I think an Indiana type job is kind of his ceiling given he has very little FBS experience and he is in his mid-60s. I was more surprised that Duke didn't snap him up given his familiarity with the mid-Atlantic.

Something to keep an eye on when it comes to the coaching ranks. Obviously Mike Mickens is at ND. Ryan Manalac coaching LBs at Pitt, and now Blue Adams coaching DBs at sparty:

Tulane replaces Fritz with Troy's Jon Sumrall. He went 23-4 in two years with a bowl win and SBC Coach of the Year. Not too shabby.

That is a phenomenal hire...they won't skip a beat.

Yep. Forgot to mention, he won back-to-back Sun Belt chips and he's only 41. Reading he got a six year deal. Curious what Tulane will pay him. I'll bet he was making less than $1M at troy.

He will have some work to do with Pratt being done, but he's a damn good coach overall.

About time. I hope they have a string of disappointing coaches again.

GOAT.

Don’t be the guy that follows the guy, who ever takes that job will be fired within 3 years.

RE: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Lots of talk in Tuscaloosa about Dan Lanning at Oregon. I'm sure Dabo's name will pop up as well since the ACC is getting weird. Lane Kiffin is probably blowing up the phones. Sark but I'm not sure why he'd bolt TX after making the CFP.

If this was a year or two from now I could see them looking internally at Tommy Rees. They love him down there.

Whomever it is will have to pass muster with Saban. He's going to be a consultant on the hire.

No but I think this would be as good a time as any to get those rumors started!

RE: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Guys like Lanning and Marcus Freeman are going to make a lot of $$ this week when their current employers give them a raise and a longer term contract bump to protect against Alabama who may not even be interested.

I would love to see Freeman get hired just to see the massive buyouts and coaching carousel chaos down the line (for example, Fickel to ND, Leopold to Wisconsin, someone else to Kansas, etc).

RE: 2023 Coaching Carousel
Why would Alabama want Marcus Freeman? He has to have a bit of a warm seat at Notre Dame, doesn't he? No playoffs yet.
